Dr Deirdre searson

Dr Deirdre graduated from University College Dublin.She completed vocational GP training in the midlands in 2014. She took over the practice in July 2018 from previous management. She has worked in various different practices around South Country Dublin before taking over Belarmine Medical Centre. She has a in Diploma Women’s Health and has a special interest in Dermatology and Women’s Health. She has training in Mirena and Copper Coil insertion, along with expertise with regards to other means of contraception. She also does Minor Surgical procedures on specific days and has a special interest in Paediatric medicine from newborns to adolescents. She is a proponent of breastfeeding and is involved in promoting this.


At present her working hours are as below if you would like to book in with her:

Monday – 15:00-18:00

Tuesday – full day

Thursday – 09:00-12:00

Friday – 09:00-12:00

Dr Hassen Hossenbaccus

Dr Hassen graduated from University College Dublin and previously trained as a Psychiatrist. He has a special interest and extensive experience in all aspects of Mental Health including Depression, Anxiety and Burnout. He runs the mental health clinics on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. He is available for Extended Mental Health consults on those time slots to provide a holistic assessment of your needs. He also has a special interest in sports injuries, weight management and nutrition as well. 

He has been in Ireland since 2001 and over the years has worked in various medical services across Ireland. He is a native French speaker and originally from Mauritius.

Monday – 09:00-12:00

Tuesday – 09:00-12:00

Wednesday – full day

Thursday – 15:00-18:00

Friday – 15:00-18:00

Margaret Kyne Delaney - MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Margaret is one of two receptionists that cover the practice. She previously worked in The Beacon hospital and various GP practices. After taking a break to look after her family, she went back to college to do a Medical Secretary course in College of Further Education, Dundrum.  She really enjoys meeting and helping the wide variety of patients that attend or phone the practice. 

 

EMER O'DEA - MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Emer is one of two receptionist in the practice. She has over 10 years experience as a medical secretary having worked in the Beacon Hosptial, Blackrock Clinic and the Mater Hospital. Emer really enjoys the diversity of working in a GP practice and welcomes any queries from patients calling in or phoning the practice. 

Shirley Barnwell - Practice Nurse

Shirley trained in the Mater Misericordiae as a general nurse initially. She then went to study midwifery in Scotland and after that worked in cardio thoracics and general intensive care. She joined the team at Belarmine Medical Centre in October 2020 and looks after routine bloods, vaccinations, cervical smears, Chronic Care management and routine nursing duties. She has a special interest in women’s health.

Joan Kelly - Fertility Specialist

Joan Kelly graduated from St.Vincents Hospital as a State Registered Nurse with honours and after qualifying, decided initially to work in oncology nursing.

Joan completed a Certificate in Ultrasound in 1998.

Whilst gaining invaluable experience in the IVF world, she also completed an MBA in Healthcare in 2004. Her thesis on “The hidden costs of IVF “ was published in the “Fertility and Sterility” journal. She was subsequently asked to present her thesis in Montreal Canada, to the ASRM (The American Society of Reproductive Medicine).

She is a member of the UK Nursing forum “Senior Infertility Nursing Group” (SING). This is a group of highly qualified fertility nurses in both Ireland and the UK, who share knowledge and experience gained from their different clinics.

Joan has presented numerous lectures on fertility issues to medical students, midwives, General Practitioners and Public Health Nurses.

She is a member of the Steering Committee for “Insights”, which is the English fertility forum, which organises an annual three-day conference on fertility issues.

She has also Chaired Irish fertility meetings and conferences.

Joan specialises in:

Follicle tracking – which involves scanning females’ ovaries and uterus and determining the best time to have intercourse in order to conceive naturally.

Scans to determine cysts, fibroids, polyps, endometrial thickness and PCOS ( polycystic ovarian syndrome).

Early pregnancy scanning service: Scans from 7 weeks pregnancy up to 10 weeks.

Satellite IVF Scans (couples having IVF treatment abroad).

She then branched into reproductive medicine, working in the Hari Fertility Unit (which was the first IVF unit in Ireland), and worked closely with Professor Robert Harrison, who pioneered IVF in Ireland.
